Team makes roster moves before start of camp

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers made a number of procedural moves Friday as rookies reported to training camp.

Among those was the expected placement of second-round running back Jonathon Brooks on the active/non-football injury list.

He can be activated from the list at any time, but his not being cleared for the start of camp was anticipated after he suffered a torn ACL last November during his time at the University of Texas. Since Brooks' injury happened before the start of his NFL career, he was placed on the NFI list as opposed to physically unable to perform.

The Panthers also placed four other players on the active/physically unable to perform list, including a pair of veteran free agents who were signed this offseason.

As with Brooks, they can be activated at any time.

That list includes veteran outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum and offensive tackle Yosh Nijman, along with outside linebacker Amaré Barno and rookie wide receiver Jalen Coker.

Veterans will report to camp next Tuesday, and practice will begin next Wednesday. For all the latest on training camp, including ticket information, click here.
