CHARLOTTE — The Panthers brought Mike Jackson to camp late last year, and then they couldn't get him off the field.
The team agreed to terms with the veteran cornerback Monday, keeping some familiarity on defense after a busy day of imports.
The 28-year-old Jackson was acquired in a training camp trade with the Seahawks (for seventh-round pick Michael Barrett), quickly won a starting job, and played nearly every snap last season.
His 1,205 defensive snaps (99 percent) were second in the entire league, trailing only teammate Xavier Woods (who played all 1,218 snaps).
Jackson also played well opposite Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn (meaning he saw more traffic most weeks), with two interceptions and 76 tackles last year.
"It's been good playing with Mike," Horn said. "I've been saying all year he's one of the smartest guys I've been around. Just the way you break down film and know what's coming before it happens, so I learned a lot from him, and you know I'd love to play with him again next year. I'd definitely love to run it back with Mike."
And now they'll get a chance to continue to work together.
