CHARLOTTE — The people have spoken. At least the people on Instagram stories.
And they have a clear favorite when it comes to Panthers uniform combinations.
Like the college basketball Final Four, this one came down to the top seeds, but all black was a significant preference over all-blue with the black helmet.
No. 1 Black helmet, black jersey, black britches, black socks 69%
No. 2 Black helmet, blue jersey, blue britches, black socks 31%
It's a cold look to be sure, especially when it's under the lights.
(And perhaps especially especially in the elements, like when former Panthers safety Xavier Woods dropped the hammer of Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier here in a downpour in 2022).
As one of the Panthers alternate uniform combos, it's part of the league restrictions that keep it from being a regular part of the rotation. Then again, if they wore it every week, it would stop being special.
The Panthers can wear either the all-black color rush look with the black helmets or their blue jerseys (with either helmet) a maximum of four times this year.
But when it comes out of the closet, you know it's a big day, or night, as the case may be.
