CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some defensive depth on Tuesday, signing linebacker Frankie Luvu.
The 24-year-old Luvu was untendered by the Jets as a restricted free agent, setting him free into the market.
He played 40 games over the last three years for the Jets (including four starts), registering 6.0 sacks. He played 238 special teams snaps last season, despite spending a short three-game stint on IR with a groin injury.
In 2018, Luvu's 3.0 sacks led all undrafted rookies across the league.
A native of American Samoa, Luvu entered the league as an undrafted rookie from Washington State.
