CHARLOTTE — The Panthers brought back a familiar face Wednesday morning.

Veteran tight end Jordan Matthews, who was released Tuesday, has been re-signed to the team's practice squad. The team also added safety Russ Yeast to the practice squad, filling the second available spot.

Matthews began the year on the practice squad but was signed to the 53-man roster prior to the opener and played in the first two games, adding versatility and special teams ability.

Yeast has been with the Rams for the last three seasons, playing in 33 games and starting 10 during that time. That gives him some familiarity with this coaching staff, including passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley.
