CHARLOTTE - The Panthers have officially placed safety Juston Burris and wide receiver Brandon Zylstra back on the active roster.
Carolina's starting safety at the start of the season, Burris suffered a groin injury at Houston in Week 3. He was designated to return at the end of October and needed to be activated this week or returned to injured reserve for the rest of the season.
Burris played all but one snap in Carolina's wins in Weeks 1 and 2, totaling nine tackles and an interception. His return bolsters a secondary that will be without Rashaan Melvin and Stantley Thomas-Oliver III on Sunday.
Zylstra suffered a hamstring injury against the Vikings and was just designated to return this week. He had eight catches for 139 yards in the first six games and is a key component on special teams.
The Panthers also promoted offensive lineman Mike Horton this weekend as the standard practice squad elevation.
