Panthers activate guard John Miller

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers are playing well on the offensive line lately, and they're getting a key part back.

The team activated veteran right guard John Miller Saturday, giving them some more talent and experience up front.

Miller missed the last three games after suffering an ankle injury in New York in Week 7. He missed the opener while on the COVID-19 list.

When he's on the field, he has been one of their most consistent linemen over the last two years, playing alongside right tackle Taylor Moton. If he starts Sunday against Washington, and that's expected now that he's active, it will be their eighth different group of offensive linemen in 11 games.

Backup tackle Trent Scott filled in well for him in the starting lineup, despite a lack of experience inside. The Panthers have only allowed one sack in the last three games, and ran the ball effectively against Atlanta and Arizona.

To make room for Miller on the active roster, they placed cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III on injured reserve (toe).
