CHARLOTTE — The Panthers put another player on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, among their transactions in advance of Sunday's game against the Bills.
Defensive tackle Derrick Brown was placed on the COVID-19 list, the third Panther on the list at the moment, along with third quarterback Matt Barkley and running back Christian McCaffrey (who is on injured reserve).
With Brown unavailable to play, the Panthers will be down to three defensive tackles against the Bills, with veteran starter DaQuan Jones along with Bravvion Roy and rookie Phil Hoskins.
The Panthers also activated cornerback/special teamer Stantley Thomas-Oliver III. He had been designated to return from injured reserve earlier this week. He adds some depth, with cornerback A.J. Bouye out with a foot injury.
The Panthers also promoted two players from the practice squad for the week: Running back Reggie Bonnafon (COVID-19 elevation) and wide receiver Willie Snead (standard elevation).
The Panthers have just two other running backs on the active roster, and Bonnafon can also serve as an emergency third quarterback since he has some experience at the position from his days at Louisville.
