CHARLOTTE — The Panthers took another big step toward addressing their biggest need Monday.

And they did it in a big way.

According to multiple reports, including from NFL Network, the Panthers agreed to terms with Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton on Monday.

No deals can be official until the league year begins Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The 26-year-old Wharton had 6.5 sacks last year for the Chiefs as he continued to grow into a larger role on a talented defense.

A former undrafted rookie from Division II Missouri S&T, Wharton has appeared in 72 games and has 13.5 career sacks.

Now, he'll get to play alongside a healthy Derrick Brown and A'Shawn Robinson as the Panthers attempt to restock the defense from front to back. They also reportedly agreed to terms with Rams defensive tackle Bobby Brown III earlier Monday.

The team has also reportedly agreed to terms with outside linebacker Patrick Jones II and former Raiders safety Tre'Von Moehrig, in addition to extending cornerback Jaycee Horn's deal this morning.
