CHICAGO — The Panthers are operating without both their starting linebackers today, something they've had a week to plan for.
Starter Josey Jewell is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears with groin and hamstring injuries. Along with veteran Shaq Thompson going on injured reserve after suffering a torn Achilles, they're forced into a new look.
Rookie Trevin Wallace and Claudin Cherelus are expected to start at inside linebacker today.
Also inactive for the Bears game are safety Russ Yeast, running back Mike Boone, offensive linemen Andrew Raym and Jarrett Kingston, and defensive end Jayden Peevy.
Veteran nose tackle Shy Tuttle is back this week after missing the last two with a foot injury, and LaBryan Ray is expected to start at defensive end.
The Panthers activated defensive tackle T.J. Smith and outside linebacker Thomas Incoom from the practice squad (standard elevations) for Week 5.
