  • Outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney brought down Mayfield for a loss of 8 in the second quarter. This marked Clowney's fourth road game in a row with a tackle for loss.
  • The Panthers defense got to Baker Mayfield twice, their eighth game this season with multiple sacks. Since Week 12, the Panthers have 19.0 sacks, tied for the third-most in the NFL during that stretch.
  • Linebacker Chandler Wooten made the first start of his career against Tampa Bay. He led all defenders with a career-high 14 tackles (seven solo).
  • Corner Mike Jackson recorded two tackles for loss, the most in a single game in his career.
  • Three Panthers defenders, Wooten, Windmon, and Xavier Woods, all finished with double-digit tackles.

Snap Counts

Take a look at the snap counts and playtime percentage for the Panthers in Week 17 of the regular season against the Bucs.

Player Offensive Snaps Special Teams Snaps

Yosh Nijman 47 (100%) 3 (10%)
Bryce Young 47 (100%)
Cade Mays 47 (100%)
Jalen Coker 41 (87%)
Adam Thielen 40 (85%)
Raheem Blackshear 36 (77%)

Velus Jones Jr. 3 (6%) 10 (33%)
Chandler Zavala 2 (4%) 3 (10%)
Feleipe Franks 1 (2%) 22 (73%)
  • Regardless of what the defense is doing, 47 snaps is not enough snaps. The Panthers were just 2-of-9 (22 percent) on third downs.
  • The tight end percentage evened out this week, after Tommy Tremble had taken a larger share than Ja'Tavion Sanders in previous weeks.
  • Not only did Adam Thielen make big plays, he did it while playing 85 percent of the snaps, which is high for him recently after he returned from a hamstring injury. Of course, only 40 total snaps made that workload more manageable.
  • Raheem Blackshear got the bulk of the snaps at running back, partially because Mike Boone was sick last week and didn't have a full practice load.

Sam Roberts 9 (12%) 1 (3%)
Lonnie Johnson 3 (4%) 16 (53%)

  • Regardless of what the offense is doing, 77 snaps is too many snaps. The Panthers allowed the Bucs a 41:11-18:49 time of possession advantage.
  • Xavier Woods again played every snap, as he has in every game this season. He leads the league in defensive snaps played this year.
  • He was joined in the ironman club by Chandler Wooten in his first NFL start, Caleb Farley in his most extensive action as a Panther, along with Demani Richardson and Mike Jackson.
  • With Jaycee Horn inactive and Chau Smith-Wade on IR, Dane Jackson played 64 snaps at nickel, and Akayleb Evans got his first work here outside.
Player Special Teams Snaps

JJ Jansen 9 (30%)
Eddy Piñeiro 6 (20%)
Shemar Bartholomew 6 (20%)
Jarrett Kingston 3 (10%)
Brady Christensen 3 (10%)
  • With so much attrition on offense and defense, the special teams units are picked over and full of replacements. But Jon Rhattigan, Sam Franklin Jr., and Nick Scott each played 27 snaps.
  • As expected, Johnny Hekker had three more snaps than Eddy Piñeiro, meaning they punted too much, and kicked for points/kicked off not enough.
