Snap Counts: Panthers at Patriots

Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey played 11 snaps in three series, while the rest of the offensive starters played 17 snaps. Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson played 19 snaps in their first action of the preseason.

  • Cam Newton played 11 snaps in the first three series before exiting with a foot injury. He finished 4-of-8 passing for 30 yards.
  • Both Will Grier and Kyle Allen had exactly 17 snaps, while Taylor Heinicke didn't see any action at quarterback.
  • Reggie Bonnafon had 17 snaps at running back and Jordan Scarlett had 16. Elijah Holyfield only saw one offensive snap. Bonnafon had the longest offensive play on a 27-yard reception to convert a fourth down.
  • Ian Thomas played 31 snaps after missing time with a rib injury last week.
  • Terry Godwin played 20 snaps at receiver and eight on special teams. He was the only player back to return punts. He muffed his first attempt for a Panthers recovery, and finished with three returns for five yards.

  • Brian Burns played 42 snaps and finished with five tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
  • Efe Obada played a team-high 50 defensive snaps. He had four tackles and was credited with half a sack.
  • Woodrow Hamilton played 31 snaps and had a nice stat line. He recovered a fumble and posted five tackles including a sack and tackle for loss.
