CHARLOTTE -- Cornerback Josh Hawkins and linebacker Andre Smith, a pair of potential contributors on special teams, are among the Panthers' inactives for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
The return of safety Rashaan Gaulden (ankle) from a one-game absence put Hawkins on a list of six healthy scratches. Wide receiver Torrey Smith (knee), who will miss his second consecutive game, is the only injured player among the inactives.
Hawkins had played more than half of Carolina's special teams snaps since being promoted from the practice squad before the Week 3 game against the Bengals. Andre Smith (hamstring) returned to practice for this week for first time since Week 6, but there simply wasn't room on the active roster.
