DENVER — The Panthers will be without last week's starting quarterback and their top wide receiver today against the Broncos.
Andy Dalton was on the inactive list for Sunday's game after suffering a sprained thumb last Tuesday in a traffic accident.
Bryce Young will start today, and rookie practice squader Jack Plummer has been activated to be his backup.
Also inactive for the Panthers this week are wide receiver Diontae Johnson, safety Jammie Robinson, cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Shemar Bartholomew, tackle Yosh Nijman, and defensive end Jonathan Harris.
That means starting defensive end A'Shawn Robinson, outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, and linebacker Josey Jewell are active this week, which provides a significant bump for the defense.
Without Johnson and with Adam Thielen not activated this week, the Panthers will rely on a young receiving corps, which includes Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, Jonathan Mingo, and David Moore.
