CHARLOTTE — Panthers general manager Dan Morgan has promised to "churn" the roster and the practice squad, and he's true to his word.
The team added two new practice squad players Friday and released three, creating an open spot on the 16-man squad.
The team signed wide receiver Deon Cain and offensive lineman Brandon Walton.
The 28-year-old Cain was in Bills camp this summer and has spent time with the Colts, Steelers, Ravens, Eagles, and in the USFL and UFL. The former Clemson product has nine catches for 124 yards in 15 career games.
Walton, 26, is a known commodity to the team's offensive line coaches. He's spent the last three seasons with the Buccaneers working with Harold Goodwin and Joe Gilbert. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle has also been with the Bills and Steelers and has appeared in 15 games with two starts.
To make room for them on the roster, they released safety Alex Cook, defensive tackle Walter Palmore, and offensive lineman Mason Brooks.
