Panthers add linebacker depth

Jacoby Windmon

CHARLOTTE — With injuries stacking up, the Panthers added some reinforcements at linebacker Tuesday.

The team signed outside linebacker Jacoby Windmon off the Steelers practice squad.

The UNLV and Michigan State product was undrafted this year. In 2022 at Michigan State, he led the FBS with six forced fumbles and had 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.

To make room for him on the 53-man roster, the team waived outside linebacker Tarron Jackson.

They also signed veteran linebacker Shaq Quarterman to the practice squad. The 26-year-old Quarterman was a fourth-round pick of the Jaguars out of Miami, and played four seasons there. He spent time with the Eagles and Chargers this year, including some time on the Chargers practice squad. He's played in 66 career games.

They also released wide receiver Deon Cain from the practice squad.
