CHARLOTTE — The Panthers made another change at safety Saturday, placing previous starter Nick Scott on injured reserve.
The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury last week against Washington and will be out for at least the next four weeks.
He had started the previous four games after Jordan Fuller went on injured reserve. Fuller began practicing last week but wasn't activated.
To fill the two available roster spots, the Panthers activated Sam Franklin Jr. from injured reserve and signed safety Russ Yeast from the practice squad.
Franklin, the team's special teams captain, has been out since suffering a broken foot during training camp.
Yeast, who has experience with this defensive staff from his days with the Rams, played one game earlier this year.
In addition to Scott and Fuller, safety Jammie Robinson is out this week with a knee injury, so they needed the depth there.
The team also activated cornerback Caleb Farley and quarterback Jack Plummer from the practice squad by standard elevation. It's the first of three available standard elevations for each of them.
Plummer gives them some needed depth at quarterback. Andy Dalton is doubtful on the injury report with a sprained thumb suffered in Tuesday's car accident. Bryce Young will start Sunday against the Broncos.
Also Saturday, running back Jonathon Brooks and defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy were downgraded to out for Sunday's games. They're both practicing but haven't been activated to the 53-man roster.
