CHARLOTTE—The Carolina Panthers will be without one of their starting pass rushers on Sunday. The team announced Jadeveon Clowney (knee) has been downgraded to out for tomorrow's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Clowney was originally listed as questionable and Dave Canales said on Friday, "I expect him to play right now." Saturday brought about different news though, with the veteran linebacker no longer playing.
This means the pass rush will be handled by D.J. Wonnum, DJ Johnson, and Cam Gill as well as Amaré Barno, who saw his first action last week. Barno registered three tackles and a sack in his season debut.
Safety Nick Scott (hamstring/personal) was downgraded to out as well. He was listed as questionable and did not practice on Friday. He was able to practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The veteran is in the second week of his three week window to be activated from injured reserve.
The team also elevated wide receiver Dan Chisena and linebacker Jacoby Windmon from the practice squad as standard game day elevations.
Chisena recorded his first catch of his career last week against Tampa Bay, a 6-yard reception. Windmon, a rookie, has seen action in three games this season, with all of his snaps on special teams.
The Panthers are set to kickoff against the Eagles at 1 p.m. eastern. Follow along on Panthers.com for full coverage.
