Inside the Numbers: Chuba Hubbard in Weeks 1-4

Chuba Hubbard 240929 vs Bengals-273

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have made it through the first quarter of the season (rounding up, at least), and while sitting at 1-3, there have been areas of great production and promise of more from the offense. One of the biggest standouts has been running back Chuba Hubbard.

Following a 2023 season in which he rushed for 902 yards and five touchdowns (and led the team with 1,135 scrimmage yards) Hubbard is currently on pace to surpass the thousand-yard mark this year. The fourth year back is averaging 74-yards per game rushing and averaging 109 on the ground the last two games, and 145 scrimmage yards during that time.

To fully understand the run (pun intended) Hubbard is on, let's take a closer look at the numbers he's posted the first four weeks of the 2024 season.

Chuba Hubbard 240922 In-Game Edits at Raiders-204
  • Hubbard's 121 yards from scrimmage marked his sixth-career game with 100+ scrimmage yards. Hubbard now has eclipsed 50 scrimmage yards in 11 of his last 12 games.
  • He became the first Carolina player to record back-to-back 120+ scrimmage yard games since Christian McCaffrey did so in the first two weeks of the 2021 season.
  • Hubbard's 5.4 yards per carry ranks seventh league-wide among players with a minimum of 30 rushing attempts.
  • Since the start of 2023, Hubbard ranks seventh in the NFL in rushing first downs (76).

A DYNAMIC TWO WEEKS

  • Over the last two weeks alone, Hubbard ranks second in scrimmage yards (290), tied for second in rushing first downs (13), third in rushing yards (218), seventh in yards per rush (5.6) and seventh in rushing attempts (39).
  • In Week 4, RB Chuba Hubbard scored his first rushing touchdown of the season and second total. This marked the 15th total touchdown of his career.
  • In the third quarter of Week 4, Hubbard had a 38-yard carry, marking a new career-long.
  • Hubbard finished against the Bengals with 18 carries for 104 yards with one touchdown and four catches for 17 yards. This marked his fifth 100-rushing yard game of his career and second in a row. This is also the first time in Hubbard's career that he has had consecutive 100-yard rushing games.
