ATLANTA — The Panthers are getting one of the cornerbacks they traded for on the field this week — but not both of them.
While veteran acquisition Stephon Gilmore will make his Panthers debut today, they'll be without CJ Henderson for today's game against the Falcons.
Gilmore was activated Saturday, so he can make his first appearance since coming over in a trade with the Patriots for a 2023 sixth-round pick.
Henderson has been dealing with a shoulder issue, and was listed as questionable for today's game. He's played in three games since coming over in a deal with Jacksonville (along with a fifth-round pick) for tight end Dan Arnold and a third-round pick.
The Panthers are still quite deep at the position (they have seven on the roster), and Gilmore will join the group that includes Donte Jackson, A.J. Bouye, Keith Taylor Jr., Rashaan Melvin, and Stantley Thomas-Oliver III.
Linebacker Shaq Thompson is active after being listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report.
Wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was also inactive for Sunday's game, as he continues to recover from his concussion. Linebacker Kamal Martin and defensive tackle Phil Hoskins are also inactive.
That leaves them with just three defensive tackles for the game, after Daviyon Nixon was placed on injured reserve last week. They have Bravvion Roy behind starters DaQuan Jones and Derrick Brown.
The Panthers will also start Trent Scott at right guard today. He's replacing veteran John Miller, who was placed on IR. They promoted wide receiver Keith Kirkwood and punter Lachlan Edwards from the practice squad (standard elevations) to fill in.
