CHARLOTTE — The Panthers made some last-minute roster adjustments before taking off for New Orleans on Saturday.

They included placing veteran tight end Ian Thomas on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss at least the next four weeks.

Thomas has been sidelined since a calf injury early in training camp and hasn't practiced since. He had already been ruled out for the opener.

The team also waived cornerback Keenan Isaac. He was one of the six waiver claims the day after roster cuts. He spent last year with the Buccaneers.

With those two roster spots, they signed tight end Feleipe Franks and defensive tackle Jayden Peevy to the active roster from the practice squad.

Franks, the former University of Florida quarterback who converted to tight end while with the Falcons, gives them some depth at the position since veteran Tommy Tremble has also been ruled out this week. Peevy, who spent some time here on the practice squad last year, gives them a sixth defensive lineman.

The team also promoted veteran running back Mike Boone and cornerback Lonnie Johnson from the practice squad for the week (standard elevations). Players can be elevated from the practice squad three times during the season. Those two add special teams ability to a young roster.
