CHARLOTTE -- Cam Newton sparked an interesting debate on Tuesday when he said the following:
"Harmony is everything. Chemistry is everything," he said. "This may not be the best or most talented team that I've probably ever been on, but it's getting up there with guys that are really meshing and linking up perfectly.
"We may not necessarily be the best team in the league, but we damn sure are going to be the best team when we play. And that's all that matters."
The 6-2 Panthers still have a long way to go of course, but some might look at the talent on this roster and argue that this 2018 squad is in fact the most talented group that's been assembled during Newton's tenure. That's what linebacker Thomas Davis said when told of Newton's remarks. And just the other day, tight end Greg Olsen admitted this is the most weapons Newton has ever had surrounding him.
Obviously it's hard to argue against the 2015 team that went 15-1 and went to the Super Bowl. Others also mentioned the talented 2013 squad that went 12-4, the first playoff berth of Newton's career.
