PHILADELPHIA — Panthers running back and returner Raheem Blackshear was taken to a nearby hospital for tests after suffering a chest injury Sunday.
Blackshear was initially announced as questionable to return but was downgraded to out a few minutes later. He was transported by ambulance to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, but was back in the locker room after the game.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said after the game Blackshear was returning to the stadium and would travel home with the team Sunday night.
The 26-year-old running back and returner, a Philadelphia native, returned a kickoff and a punt in the first quarter.
The Panthers also lost running back Jonathon Brooks to a right knee injury in the first half, leaving Chuba Hubbard as the only healthy back in uniform.
Canales said they were still waiting on more tests on Brooks before they know the extent of his injury. That's the same knee he tore his ACL in last November. But there was obviously concern, and Canales said Brooks was in pain.
"They're still gathering a bunch of information," Canales said. "We do know that it's something going on, some pain in his knee. We're going to have to do a bunch more imaging before we can make a decision, or declaration on what's happening there.
"It was certainly scary for him, scary for all of us. But again, we'll collect all the information and we'll give you more as we figure that out."
