CHARLOTTE — The Panthers made a handful of moves to churn the roster Tuesday, signing a pair of defensive players off other team's practice squads.
The team brought back outside linebacker Cam Gill, who was here during the offseason but was released following an injury in training camp. He has been with the Lions practice squad since earlier this month.
Gill had 2.5 sacks in three years with the Buccaneers, appearing in 40 games. He also had a half-sack and a forced fumble on Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl LV win over the Chiefs.
They also signed defensive end Jonathan Harris from the Dolphins practice squad. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Harris has familiarity with this staff from his time with the Broncos (where he played from 2019 to 2023). He's appeared in 33 games over four seasons.
To make room for those moves, the team released outside linebacker Marquis Haynes, who has played the last two games here, starting Sunday against Washington. The 30-year-old Haynes, the team's fourth-round pick in 2018, had four tackles against the Commanders and has 14.0 sacks in 73 career games.
They also waived linebacker Chandler Wooten and defensive tackle T.J. Smith from the 53-man roster.
The team released outside linebacker Shaq Lawson and defensive end Jayden Peevy from the practice squad and signed center Andrew Raym back to the practice squad.
