CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have released veteran pass rusher K'Lavon Chaisson the team announced on Tuesday. Chaisson had joined the Panthers this past spring as a free agent.
Chaisson is a former first-round draft pick by the Jaguars, in 2020. The LSU alum was never able to find a solid footing in Jacksonville however, finishing his four years there with 73 tackles, five sacks and two passes defended.
He was expected to provide a pass rush alongside Jadeveon Clowney in Charlotte. Chaisson started two games during the preseason, playing 29 total snaps on defense, tallying one tackle (tackle for a loss). He did not play in the second preseason game versus the Jets.
Chaisson's release leaves the outside linebacker unit with Clowney, DJ Johnson, Eku Leota and recent waiver acquisition Jamie Sheriff.
