Panthers add offensive line and outside linebacker depth

Cade Mays

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers brought back a familiar face to help with their sudden shortage along the offensive line.

The team signed versatile lineman Cade Mays off the Giants practice squad, and added outside linebacker Thomas Incoom to the 53-man roster from their own practice squad.

Mays, their sixth round pick in 2022, was here for the last two seasons, but was released when they got to 53 this year after training camp. But with Austin Corbett lost for the seasons to a biceps tear, the Panthers needed some depth inside.

Mays can play center or guard, and they need that depth with Brady Christensen elevated to the starting lineup and Andrew Raym in the concussion protocol.

Mays played in 27 games the last two seasons, and started seven here.

Incoom has been elevated from the practice squad for the previous two games. He spent last season with the Broncos, but didn't appear in a game.

The Panthers also released running back Mike Boone, waived defensive tackle Jayden Peevy and Russ Yeast, and released safety Alex Cook from the practice squad.

The moves leave the Panthers with two available spots on the 53-man roster, and two on the practice squad.
