CHARLOTTE— The Panthers have added another tight end to their room, shoring up a unit that had been hit by injuries recently.

The club signed tight end Jesper Horstead on Monday. In a corresponding move, the team waived Tayvion Robinson.

Horstead, a Princeton product, first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, signing with the Chicago Bears. He has spent time with the Bears, the Raiders and the Saints.

Horsted has appeared in 41 games over his career, with 14 receptions for 131 yards and three touchdowns.

The Panthers started the week with a mere three tight ends on the practice field, as the unit dealt with injuries, before adding Jacob Hollister Sunday evening. The team travels to New England this week, for their first pre-season game against the Patriots.
