Injuries force a handful of transactions Monday

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some needed secondary depth Monday after suffering a series of injuries last week.

The team signed cornerbacks Chris Wilcox and Quandre Mosely after a workout on Monday.

Corner became a position of need last week when head coach Dave Canales said that starter Dane Jackson would miss "six-weeks-ish" with a hamstring, and then Lamar Jackson and Anthony Brown left Saturday night's game against the Jets with injuries and did not return.

Wilcox, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Buccaneers out of BYU. He's also spent time with the Colts, Cardinals, Steelers, and Chargers.

Mosely, 25, played at Eastern Arizona and Kentucky and has spent time with the Cowboys, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Patriots.

To make room for them on the roster, the team placed Brown and quarterback Jake Luton on injured reserve, and waived-injured Lamar Jackson. They also waived-injured wide receiver Tayvion Robinson, and waived running back Dillon Johnson.

They also signed cornerback Willie Drew, wide receiver Sam Pinckney, and running back Jaden Shirden, who were here in camp earlier this summer.
