Inactives: Few starters to dress in first preseason action

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.— The Panthers are taking a cautious approach in their first preseason game, sitting a majority of starters for Thursday night's match against the New England Patriots.

With two more pre-season games to go, few questions at many of the starting positions, including quarterback, and a joint practice next week versus the New York Jets, there will be no Bryce Young or Diontae Johnson Thursday night, none of the starting offensive line and three running backs donning ball caps for the action.

Rookie first-round receiver Xavier Legette will also sit out this game, following his early departure from practice on Sunday, with what was described at the time as a lower leg injury. Dave Canales announced on Monday that test results showed no structural damage, but Legette would still be held out versus the Patriots.
