CHARLOTTE — Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is ranked No. 44 on the NFL Top 100 as announced by NFL Network on Sunday.
McCaffrey is coming off an injury-hampered 2020 season where he played in just three games. However, McCaffrey's return to health and his league-wide reputation kept him in the Top 50 of the league's best players for the third-straight season.
He was picked No. 6 last year and was No. 42 in 2019.
McCaffrey put together one of the best seasons for a running back in league history in 2019. He became only the third player ever to record 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. Last year, he scored two touchdowns in each of the three games that he played as he closes in on the Panthers leaders for career scrimmage touchdowns.
With 55 career rushing and receiving touchdowns, McCaffrey needs six scores to pass Muhsin Muhammad for fifth all-time and needs 14 to catch Cam Newton for second place in franchise history.
