CHARLOTTE — The Panthers came out of the bye week with a few moves.
The team added cornerback Caleb Farley to the 53-man roster on Monday and placed tight end Ian Thomas on injured reserve.
Farley has played the last three games as a standard elevation from the practice squad, using up his limit there.
The former first-round pick of the Titans adds to a cornerback group that's been remade this offseason, with Mike Jackson coming in trade and Dane Jackson in free agency to go along with Jaycee Horn.
Thomas suffered a calf injury during the pre-bye win in Germany and didn't finish the game.
He also missed the first five games of the season with a calf injury. He'll now miss at least the next four weeks.
The Panthers also opened the practice window for outside linebacker Amaré Barno to return from the physically unable to perform list. He's been out since tearing his ACL last year against the Packers on Christmas Eve.
Also Monday, they signed defensive tackle Sam Roberts to the practice squad.
A former sixth-round pick of the Patriots out of Northwest Missouri State, Roberts played 12 games with one start over two seasons with New England. The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder signed to the Bears practice squad in August but was released with an injury settlement in early October.
