Cade McCloughan is in his second season with Carolina and first serving as the West Coast area scout. In his first season with the Panthers, McCloughan served as a scouting intern and was responsible for covering the areas of North and South Dakota.

A 2022 graduate of California Polytechnic State University, McCloughan played three seasons as a free safety for the Mustangs. He began his college career at Foothill Junior College (Los Altos, Calif.) where he played for two seasons.

McCloughan comes from a family with many years spent in various scouting/personnel departments around the National Football League. His grandfather, Kent McCloughan, spent 40 years as an area scout for the Oakland Raiders. His father, Scot McCloughan spent 21 years in multiple front office roles across the league, including the general manager for the San Francisco 49ers (2005-09) and the Washington Commanders (2015-16). His uncle, David McCloughan, is currently a national scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
