Stadium Construction Update

The new lettering, logos and Panther head on the back of the video board atop the East Gate are now visible from Mint Street as Bank of America Stadium renovations hit the stretch run.

Here's a little perspective on the size of the structure as provided by workers adding some finishing touches.

The progress made has allowed for the removal of a massive crane that's been a big part of the project. A crane remains in use on the west side.

Here's what the east video board looks like from field level.

And here's a look at the west video board that is nearing completion but isn't there quite yet.

The exterior of the South Gate escalator bay is really beginning to take shape with the installation of windows. Work at this bay is ahead of work at the other three bays.

Inside the bay, the two segments of escalators that will transport fans to the 500 level are in place.

Here's how the escalator that will get fans to the 500 level looks from the 400 level.

Workers are still setting up the inner workings of the escalators.

Passers-by may have heard officials performing sound checks for the new speaker system this week.

Speakers also hang from the stadium's four light standards. There also are speakers underneath the 500 level ribbon board that encircle the stadium.

The improved light domes above the South Gate are in the process of being covered back up.

A lot but not all of the heavy lifting is completed. These massive steel beams still must be lifted into place by a crane.

But as the days go by, with the July 1 deadline fast approaching, the project becomes more and more about a long list of little things that need to be done.
