Stadium Construction Update

Phase One of renovations continue at Bank of America Stadium with workers still preparing the infrastructure of the West end zone video board.

It's a different story on the East side, where many of the 196 sections of LED board that weigh a total of 118,670 pounds have been installed.

An LED panel more than seven feet wide and nearly eight feet tall is lowered into place.

Seven rows of LED panels, each composed of 28 panels, will create a video board that is more than 55 feet tall and 198 feet wide.

"The video board project has gone pretty much as anticipated, maybe even a little quicker than we thought," Daktronics senior project manager Tyler Jones said. "We thought we needed to put up 10 pieces a day, but right now we're at about 17 on average."

On the other end of the stadium, the final sections of the 500 level ribbon board are being installed. The 300 level board is complete.

Once an LED panel is secured, a worker must set up a web of wiring inside the piece.

Not a bad view for a long day of work.

In the 500 level concourse, workers are installing glass that will replace plexiglass in a North Gate light dome.

Cranes of different sizes help the cause throughout the stadium.

These workers hang out on the back side of the stadiium bowl's upper reaches.

Here's how the top level of the North Gate escalator bay looked last week as workers prepared to pour the concrete floor...

...and here's how it looks a few days later.

In addition to the Phase One work, the Panthers unveiled a renovated press conference room this week.

Work around the stadium will continue for some members of the crew over the weekend.

And all hands will again be on deck come Monday.
