Week 5 Thursday Injury Report: Defense still banged up

CHARLOTTE - Carolina continued to have a number of starters miss practice on Thursday as Sunday's game moves closer.

Both edge rusher Brian Burns (wrist) and safety Eric Reid (ankle) were held out of practice for the second straight day. Cornerback Donte Jackson (groin), tackle Greg Little (concussion), guard Trai Turner (ankle), quarterback Cam Newton (foot) and tight end Chris Manhertz (concussion) also did not practice on Thursday.

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (knee) missed practice in what's become a regular maintenance day for the veteran.

Edge rusher Bruce Irvin (hamstring) was upgraded from limited to full participation on Thursday, while running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Curtis Samuel practiced fully after taking a rest day on Wednesday.
