CHARLOTTE — The Panthers injury problems on defense continued to mount, as two more linebackers went on injured reserve Tuesday.
The Panthers placed linebackers Trevin Wallace and Claudin Cherelus on injured reserve Tuesday, which shuts them down for the rest of the season.
Wallace, their third-round pick from Kentucky, was starting after the season-ending injury to veteran Shaq Thompson, and playing well. But he suffered a shoulder injury in Philadelphia that was going to cost him time. Cherelus replaced him last week, and suffered a foot injury, but came back to play the second half.
To replace them on the roster, the Panthers signed wide receiver Dan Chisena and linebacker Jacoby Windmon from the practice squad. Both have been activated and played this season.
The Panthers remain thin at inside linebacker, with veteran Josey Jewell and Windmon there, along with special teamer Jon Rhattigan (who played his first snap of defense last week).
