Carolina fue el primer equipo en escoger en el Draft 2023 de la NFL y el primero en ocupar todas sus selecciones colegiales utilizando su último pick en la selección #145 en la 5ta ronda tomando al S de Florida State Jammie Robinson.
Robinson es un versátil y agresivo defensivo en el perímetro que puede alinearse como profundo o como nickel CB que brindará mucha energía y buen tackleo tanto en defensiva como en equipos especiales. Jammie inició su carrera colegial en South Carolina, antes de transferirse a sur de la Florida, donde jugó con el esquinero de Panthers Jaycee Horn creando un fuerte vínculo entre ambos
Mismo caso con Chandler Zavala, la selección #114 en la 4ta ronda procedente de North Carolina State, donde fue compañero de Ikem Ekwonu quien fue la primera selección colegial de Carolina el año pasado.
Zavala, de ascendencia cubana, será una pieza importante en el interior de la línea ofensiva fungiendo como alternativa ante la lesión del G Austin Corbett, quién se sigue recuperando de una cirugía de ligamentos cruzados y podría perderse algunos juegos a inicios de temporada regular.
El coach de línea ofensiva James Campen estaba visiblemente emocionado por la adición de Zavala durante la llamada del equipo para comunicarle que se uniría a las filas de los Panthers. Chandler llegará a competir por un puesto en una sólida línea ofensiva gracias a su poder en el bloqueo por tierra y su gran entendimiento de los esquemas de protección.
El proceso para seguir reforzando este roster no termina aquí. GM Scott Fitterer junto al HC Frank Reich y el resto de los scouts continuarán sumando nombres con los novatos no reclutados en el Draft (UDFA) y alguno que otro veterano en la agencia libre que siga quedando disponible en el camino de aquí hasta finales de Training Camp.
