CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Panthers are implementing an expansion project aimed at reducing the amount of time fans spend waiting in line for NFL mandated metal detector screenings at Bank of America Stadium.
The North and East gates are under construction as the Panthers put research obtained from last season to use.
"We spent a lot of time last season studying our ingress, when our fans arrive, how they arrive, how they circulate around our building, and we decided that we were going to make some modifications," said director of stadium operations Scott Paul.
Planters in the plaza outside the North and East gates have been removed, and the added space will allow for nearly twice as many screening positions in 2013.
"One goal was to really open up the sight lines at the gates," Paul said. "People will be able to better pick a line to get in, and we substantially increased the number of screening positions with the goal of improving ingress time."
