CHARLOTTE – The Panthers acquired second-year wide receiver Kevin Norwood in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks. Carolina is sending an undisclosed 2017 draft pick to Seattle in exchange.
The Seahawks drafted Norwood in the fourth round in 2014, and the 6-2, 200-pound wideout played in nine games with two starts, recording nine receptions for 102 yards. He has recorded two catches for 18 yards through three preseason games.
"Kevin gives us another player to compete at the wide receiver position," general manager Dave Gettleman said. "He has the size you look for along with toughness and smarts. We studied him a lot going into last year's draft and we look forward to having him as part of our receiving corps."
During his college career at Alabama, Norwood posted 81 catches for 1,275 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Excluding injured wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin and De'Andre Presley, Norwood is the ninth wide receiver on the Panthers' roster.
