Panthers to hold blood drive

The Carolina Panthers and Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will team up to hold a blood drive at Bank of America Stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The "I Bleed Black & Blue For My Community" blood drive will benefit 14 area hospitals.

All donors will receive an "I Bleed Black & Blue For My Community" T-shirt. TopCats cheerleaders and team mascot Sir Purr will make special appearances throughout the day. Donors will have the opportunity to take stadium tours at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and also be eligible to win autographed Panthers memorabilia.

The blood drive will take place in the Visiting Team Locker Room, located on the stadium's ground level. Donors should enter Bank of America Stadium via Morehead Street and follow directional signs from the Mint Street and Morehead Street parking lots to the blood drive entrance.

Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling Jenn Minigh at 704-972-4731 or by visiting www.cbcc.us/donate and entering the sponsor code: Panthers.

For those who cannot attend the blood drive on Sept. 21, donors can give blood and still receive a T-shirt the following day at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas, located at 4447 South Boulevard in Charlotte, from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas was formed in 2001 through the combined efforts of four hospital systems in the region and provides more than 90 percent of the blood supply to the 14 area hospitals that serve 11 North Carolina and three South Carolina counties.
