Panthers to award uniform grants

Thirteen lucky schools will practice and play in what the pros wore. The Carolina Panthers' high school uniform grant program will award 13 uniform grants to assist high school athletic programs in North and South Carolina as part of the team's ongoing effort to support football at the grassroots level.

The uniforms consist of actual game-worn and practice-worn attire used by the Panthers - including black, white and blue practice jerseys and white and silver game pants. Valued at more than $50,000, the uniforms by Reebok have been expertly maintained and are in excellent condition.

All high schools in North and South Carolina are eligible to apply. Download a uniform grant application. The deadline to apply is Feb. 14, 2014.

"The Carolina Panthers are thrilled to provide this opportunity to schools in our region, especially when the need for resources is at a premium but adequate funding may be a challenge," said Peter Vacho, Carolina Panthers military and football outreach manager. "Having the basic necessities, such as practice gear, can go a long way in helping school athletic departments make ends meet."
