SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Nearly three months after they initially thought about adding him, the Panthers have signed safety Damian Parms.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Parms impressed coaches as a tryout player during Carolina's two-day rookie minicamp in May, but he left town without a contract. He'll now get a longer look at strong safety and on special teams.
A product of Florida Atlantic University, Parms, 24, hasn't played in an NFL regular season game in his two-plus years out of college.
In a corresponding move, the Panthers waived tight end Wyatt Houston, who had been with the team since late May.
