CHARLOTTE — The Panthers signed a kicker on Tuesday, allowing them to enter the offseason with one on the roster.
The team signed Matthew Wright to a reserve/future contract on Tuesday, bringing the 28-year-old kicker back.
Wright was here during training camp in 2023 and returned at the end of that season and kicked in the regular season finale against Tampa Bay when Eddy Piñeiro was injured.
Now, Piñeiro is a month away from unrestricted free agency, creating some uncertainty about the position.
Wright has made the rounds in recent years and spent time with four teams last season, with stints with the Steelers, 49ers, Chiefs, and Titans.
In his career, he's appeared in 29 games and has hit 55-of-63 field goals (87.3 percent), including 7-of-11 from beyond 50 yards.
