A player-by-player look at the 2015 Carolina Panthers active roster.
CHARLOTTE – The Panthers began the process of reducing their roster to 75 by parting ways with eight players Sunday.
Five undrafted rookies along with linebacker Kevin Reddick and recently added veteran tight end Dallas Walker were waived, and offensive tackle Tony Hills was terminated/vested veteran.
The roster now stands at 82 players. It must be trimmed to 75 by Tuesday at 4 p.m., then to 53 for the regular season by Saturday at 4 p.m.
POS | PLAYER | EXP | COLLEGE |
OT | Tony Hills | 7 | Texas |
POS | PLAYER | EXP | COLLEGE |
WR | Paul Browning | R | Colorado State-Pueblo |
WR | Avius Capers | R | Johnson C. Smith |
DE | Steve Miller | R | Ohio State |
LB | Kevin Reddick | 2 | North Carolina |
TE | Dallas Walker | 1 | Western Michigan |
FB | Lee Ward | R | Stanford |
P | Matt Wile | R | Michigan |
Reddick is the only player among Sunday's roster moves to have played a regular season game for the Panthers. The University of North Carolina product appeared in three regular season games and both playoff games last season, coming up with an important fumble recovery on special teams in the Panthers' Wild Card Playoff victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
The reduction to 75 should allow the Panthers to place wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on injured reserve. When teams have 90 players on the roster, a player must clear waivers before being placed on IR.
