CHARLOTTE - The Panthers have re-signed Joe Webb, who has spent time at quarterback, wide receiver and special teams, to a two-year contract.

"It feels great. It's felt like home since the first day I first got here," said Webb, who signed about 17 hours after officially becoming an unrestricted free agent. "Everybody accepted me for who I am, and I love the coaching staff. It's great."

Webb has been Carolina's third-string quarterback for the past two seasons. He played in every game in 2015, finishing second on the team with 12 special teams tackles. He also returned eight kickoffs for 178 yards.

"Some guys at first took me lightly, thinking, 'He's just a quarterback. He's just out here just to run around,' " said Webb, who quickly earned the attention of opponents with his tenacity. "It's fun to me. One play in, one play out, and you give it all you've got. It's like me and my guys going out to war."

A sixth-round draft pick by the Vikings in 2010, Webb played both quarterback and wide receiver for Minnesota. The Alabama-Birmingham product has completed 88-of-152 passes for 853 yards and three touchdowns with five interceptions. He also has 273 rushing yards and seven catches for 58 yards in his career.
