SPARTANBURG, S.C. – With 10 of 14 practices still to come at 2016 training camp presented by Lowe's, the Panthers are well on their way to breaking their attendance record for an entire training camp.
According to the Spartanburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, 54,224 fans have attended the first four practices of training camp. That includes 13,772 on Sunday, a turnout that pushed the overall total beyond the 49,029 fans that attended for all of 2014. This year's total is only exceeded by the 77,525 who attended in 2015.
"Training camp is a good barometer for measuring fan excitement, and excitement seems to be at an all-time high," Panthers director of community relations Riley Fields said. "We want to thank the fans for incredible support they've shown during the opening weekend of training camp. The team and the entire organization are feeding off the energy the fans are bringing."
