CHARLOTTE - The Panthers opened the final day of the 2019 NFL Draft by selecting another versatile defender, grabbing Alabama defensive end/linebacker Christian MillerĀ in the fourth round (115th overall).
The 6-foot-3, 247-pounder, a South Carolina native, was listed as a linebacker at Alabama. He was slowed by injuries at times last season but was productive when healthy, racking up 8.5 sacks despite starting just four games. Miller made himself known to Ole Miss offensive tackle Greg Little - the Panthers' second-round draft choice - when Miller was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week last season after recording 2.5 sacks against the Rebels.
He missed 10 games as a junior in 2017 because of an arm injury.
The Panthers are set to wrap up their draft with picks in the fifth round (154th overall) and sixth round (187th).
