The Carolina Panthers have claimed running back Armond Smith off waivers from the Cleveland Browns and have waived cornerback Reggie Sullivan.

One of three undrafted rookies to make the Browns' opening day roster in 2011, Smith played in three games and dressed but did not play in two others before being waived. He was then signed to Cleveland's practice squad, where he spent the remainder of the season.

The 5-foot-9, 194-pound Smith earned a roster spot after leading the Browns in rushing during the preseason with 192 yards and two touchdowns on 31 attempts. In the regular season, he carried three times for two yards and made one special teams tackle.

Smith finished his college career at Union (Ky.) College after attending Hutchinson (Ks.) Community College and Shorter College. As a senior in 2010, he set school records with 1,376 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on 152 carries to garner Mid-South Conference West Offensive Player of the Year.

Sullivan ended the 2011 season on the Panthers' practice squad. He participated in the team's rookie camp this past weekend.
