WATERS HOPES TO MAKE NAME AS PANTHERS PUNTER: Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer caught up with the newly-signed Swayze Waters, a Canadian Football League standout who is looking to make a name for himself in Carolina. A former UAB teammate of Joe Webb, Waters spent three consecutive preseasons with Detroit, Oakland and Pittsburgh as both a kicker and punter before joining the Toronto Argonauts in 2012. Waters was named the CFL Special Teams Player of the Year in 2014 after averaging 47.7 yards per punt and takes pride on being exclusively listed as a punter with the Panthers. "That was very appealing to me. They kind of gave me an identity," Waters told Person. "I'm looking forward to just being able to focus on one thing. I've never had that chance in my career. Year in and year out as a punter I've been very consistent."
