BROADCASTERS HONORED: Two people whose voices are familiar to Panthers' fans have been honored for their work in the broadcast booth. Panthers Radio Network play-by-play announcer Mick Mixon has been named the co-North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year and Panthers Television Network play-by-play announcer Mike Morgan has been named the co-South Carolina Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
Mixon, who joined the Panthers' radio broadcast team in 2005, was awarded for his efforts on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network, which includes a pre-game show, game broadcast, post-game show and weekly call-in show. This marks the third time he has been recognized after winning in 1999 and 2004 while with the Tar Heel Sports Network.
Morgan, who took over play-by-play duties for Panthers preseason games last year, earned the award for his work with the Panthers Television Network, doing sports/talk radio for Clear Channel and announcing South Carolina Gamecock games. This represents his fourth award after garnering recognition three consecutive years from 2005-07 for the South Carolina Gamecocks Sports Network.
